Ricardo Alvarez-De La Hoz started this petition to State Senator Annette Taddeo and

I would like to have the  Missing Endangered Persons criteria amended for people that have Autism. On August 23rd I was upset with my parents and went on a walk to cool down. I kept on walking that I did not noticed that I had walked outside of the association where I live. Due to having Autism I have very limited orientation skills, I have limited social skills and adaptive skills. Once I realized where I was, I was too far from any familiar landmarks that I knew and I had left my phone at home. I was lost and due to not having good orientation I was lost. I was missing for 8 hours. My mother called the police after 2 hours after I had been missing because she knew I was probably lost in the neighborhoods. The local police helped look for me for about 3 hours, they issued a BOLO, had a helicopter look at the surrounding lakes, a police with bloodhound dog came but by that time my scent was long gone. The officer at the end of the 3 hours explain to my parents that they need to continue the search, to post pictures of me online, check local hospital incase I was hurt and if I came home to call them. The only reason I was found safe was because a friend of my mother helped us by contacting the Madam Mayor Levine Cava, District 9 School Board Representative Ms. Santos and  Commissioner Cohen Higgins. I know that I am not the only person with ASD that has gone for a walk and has gotten lost by losing track of where they are gong but I do not want another person to get lost and be out to long that something bad can happen to them.
