Education Not Radiation started this petition to Anne Arundel County Public Schools

Electrosmog radiation is an environmental health concern, and has been detected at public schools all across Anne Arundel County, Maryland.  It is comprised of the following common sources: cell towers, broadcast antennas, Wifi networks, cell phones and tablets and dirty electricity.

Chronic exposure to electrosmog radiation has been shown to be biologically disruptive, even at very low levels, and especially to children.  Exposure has been linked to nausea, headaches, infertility, insomnia, Attention Deficit Disorder, memory loss, DNA and cell damage, autism and cancer.

Anne Arundel County students, under current conditions, are exposed to electrosmog radiation for a significant portion of their developmental years.  Radiation penetrates deeper into children’s thinner skulls.

This exposure is chronic, amounting to around 1300 hours per school year, for 13 years. It is irresponsible to subject children to cell tower and antenna radiation, putting them at risk for a number of potential side effects that may not show up for years.  By siting cell towers and antennas a safe distance from schools, children’s exposure to electrosmog radiation would be substantially reduced.

At Weston Elementary School in Ripon, California, a fourth child has been diagnosed with cancer at a San Joaquin County elementary school, and parents believe it’s because of radiation caused by a cell phone tower.

Within a two year span, there were eight cancer diagnoses from both students and teachers at this school.  After parent protests and a petition, and taking their concerns to the school board, Sprint now says it plans to move the cell tower.

How far away should cell towers and broadcast antennas be from Anne Arundel County Public Schools?  A Building Biologist can provide the answer. We shouldn’t be waiting years until the FCC updates their exposure guidelines.
