Hennie Wennink started this petition to Annastacia Palaszczuk (Premier of Queensland)

Moreton Bay is one of Australia's fastest growing urban regions with its current population of over 470,000 is forecasted to grow by over 40 percent to more than 645,000 by 2036. Consequently, the need for a public hospital bridging Brisbane, Redcliffe and Caboolture has never been more paramount.

Currently women wishing to have a child in the Moreton Bay region either travel to Royal Brisbane or Redcliffe. Redcliffe hospital is a small, overcrowded hospital with only five birth suites, and the travel to Royal Brisbane hospital from MB can be upwards of 30 minutes. Just recently a whistle-blower nurse from Redcliffe Hospital risked their job to leak video and photos to the news to show how staff are treating some patients in bathrooms!

I want to commission the QLD government to build another hospital In the Moreton Bay region. Personally, I believe the parcel of land behind USC Moreton Bay is perfect. This land is already owned by the government and is conveniently located near the Petrie train station and USC university, leaving potential for it to become a University Hospital. This would relieve pressure on surrounding hospitals, create jobs and bring about vital infrastructure to the Moreton Bay Region.

The need for action is now, the sooner we start the sooner lives can be improved!
