Melissa Bazette started this petition to Annastacia Palaszczuk MP (Premier of Queensland) and

The QLD Premier’s decision to require interstate residents to display a Declaration and pass through a checkpoint to enter QLD is creating havoc on the QLD/NSW border.

The Premier has failed to consider Southern QLD and Northern NSW is a border community with most residents frequently travelling ‘Interstate’ on a daily basis for work or to access services.
The requirement for Border Residents to pass through the checkpoints has resulted in traffic chaos, with extreme delays and gridlocked traffic not only at checkpoint sites but throughout the entire Tweed Heads area.

Countless businesses are suffering, Emergency Services are struggling to respond, essential and urgent services such as hospital care cannot be accessed in a timely fashion,  all residents are living a nightmare thanks to the lack of consideration given to this issue.
The QLD Premier needs to implement a solution that allows for the free flow of traffic for local residents living and working on the border.

I’m calling on the Premiers of the states of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria to examine the suggested and available solutions to this issue and implement the most practical.
