Due to the current outbreak of COVID-19 in NSW/VIC/SA, QLD has imposed strict border rules and have mandated of 14 days of hotel quarantine for all people arriving into the state. This includes people who are QLD residents as well as interstate residents relocating to QLD. People are required to fly (cannot drive) into a major city and be escorted to a hotel by government officials at their own expense ($3,200 per person) 

QLD residents are in a long queue waiting over 6 weeks for hotel quarantine availabilities to become available while officials sort through thousands of online border passes to enter the state they call home. This is leaving residents jobless, homeless and stranded in unfamiliar towns and states with children and pets. It is destroying residents livelihood and impacting mental health and well-being.

This petition aims to get the attention of the general community and QLD state government members to change the current rules to home quarantine, or to open the borders for this specific subgroup.
