Anna University: Print Project Report on two sides, save paper
With more than 600 affiliated colleges, the Anna University in Tamilnadu enrolls tens of thousands of students every year. If the University mandates double side printing of all reports, the amount of paper consumed could be reduced by 50%
Through its various affiliated colleges, the Anna University in Tamil Nadu has a sanctioned intake of 4,65,754 students. Number of approved intakes for the year 2011-12 is 465754, which includes UG,PG and diploma students. Every student makes a number of reports a part of their curriculum.
For instance, each student submits a project report to the University at the end of their course. A 100 page report for their final year project thesis, which they have to make multiple copies, would translate into several hundred tonnes of paper and currently most of them print it on single side.
If the University makes it mandatory to use both the sides of the paper for these reports, this will directly translate into 50% reduction of the paper used and a huge saving of resources in the form of trees, water and energy.
If this rule is rolled out this will save a lot of paper and in-turn trees and energy that goes into the making of paper, taking a green step and prove their responsibility towards environment.
Through this petition we ask the Vice-Chancellor of Anna University to issue a notification to all the affiliated colleges, asking them to print project reports and thesis in both the sides of the paper.

Anna University and affiliated colleges
I've just signed the following petition addressed to: Anna University and affiliated colleges.
Print project reports on both sides of the paper
Anna university should issue a notification to all the colleges, saying that project report has to be printed double side.
With more than 600 Anna University affiliated colleges in Tamil Nadu and a few more on the cards, number of project reports that final year students make as a part of their curriculum is very high. Number of approved intakes for the year 2011-12 is 465754, which includes UG,PG and diploma students. With each of them making at-least one 100 page report for their final year project in another 2 to 4 years, total number of papers and other resources that go into the making of the project report is enormous.
A simple solution to reduce the numbers papers used by half would be to make it mandatory that all the reports should be printed on both the sides of the paper (back to back printing).
This will make a huge difference to the number of papers used and also reduce the cost. By doing this, one of India's biggest university can take a green step and prove their responsibility towards environment.
This petition asks The Vice-Chancellor of Anna University to issue a notification to all the affiliated colleges, asking them to print project reports and thesis in both the sides of the paper.
