The most recent Ann Arbor Center of the City Task Force Report calls for the following action: “Based on community input, determine the best opportunities for a playground and/or public art that can function as a play structure that brings people of all ages together.”

We propose to the Ann Arbor City Council and Council of the Commons the construction of an artistic all-ages fitness playground inspired by modern movement and exercise culture for the Library Lot project.

Architecturally pleasing fitness parks have served as hubs for healthy communities and fostered the growth of movement disciplines like calisthenics, parkour, and freerunning around the world.

Examples: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

With a dedicated training space, community members and visiting tourists would always have somewhere to train safely, build community, and share their passion for fitness and movement culture. With inclusive and aesthetically pleasing design, children, adults, and persons of various physical ability levels could play and navigate the structures safely.

Please help us show the Ann Arbor City Council and the Council of the Commons that there is a demand for a public movement and exercise playground by signing this petition and consider donating to support the park fund.
