Animal cruelty has so many faces that we failed to recognize in our societies. This is in my local supermarket and those tiny animals are kept as "decorations". This is inhumane and snatching animals' basic rights. Fishes are sentient beings and intelligent animals. Even tiny fish as a pet need so much space to swim around and play, not one small square tank. Those two turtles are literally in the basket. They have three medium-sized tanks with many fishes (the space is still not enough for them). Besides those tanks, there are jars where each of them contains one fish kept away from medium-sized tanks. Those jars are so narrow and tall that it is not enough for those fishes to swim around. Many people see tiny animals as soulless objects hence they don't see their life perspective. Animals are not decorations for your houses, markets, and offices. They are sentient beings with the capabilities to think and feel. Fishes and turtles need proper spaces. I emailed Village Grocer about animal rights a few months ago and nothing has changed. Those animals need a proper environment to thrive and live happy lives. I urge Village Grocer to give those animals to pet adoption communities or fosters who will find forever homes for them. Our community needs to act on this matter for animal rights. To many, it may seem silly but this is big deal and show society's morality. A nation will be judged for how it treats animals. Injustice is injustice no matter whether it has been objected to people or animals. Please sign this petition so people can stop using animals as objects and decorations in the future.
