Empty The Cages

This petition is to request the Animal Welfare Board of India to eliminate the use of animals in circuses.
Since the dawn of social media platforms, countless instances of animals being abused in circuses across the country are being reported. Circuses don't have the intent or the ability to provide animals like tigers and elephants with the kind of habitat that these animals deserve to be in. Watching these animals in their miserable state is not educational to our future generations either.
As a young developing nation, India needs to embrace a progressive outlook like Greece has in recent past, and stop the circus-suffering in the name of entertainment.
The Constitution of India provides Animal Protection by Article 51 Ensuring "Compassion to all Living Creatures". However, Rule 8 which regulates the "DOs and DONTs regarding use of "PERFORMING ANIMALS" is obsolete and violates the said protection.
We are petitioning for the total and complete abolishment of legal use of performing animals. Furthermore, we suggest that Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) in conjunction with other appropriate government bodies revise their guidelines to accommodate this change.
Gandhi said "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." It would be a shame if his own country failed his idea of a great country.
