The purpose of this petition is to request Grimsby Magistrates Court and the Director of Public Prosecutions, to review the overly lenient sentences handed down to Jodie and Paul Fairbrother

District Judge Daniel Curtis presiding at Grimsby Magistrates Court was totally taken in by the morally bankrupt Fairbrothers sob story in court yesterday.12/09/2019. So much so, that justice for the horses, dogs, cats even hedgehogs neglected and abused by the Fairbrothers was denied.

Owners Jodie Fairbrother and Paul Fairbrother were given suspended jail terms and also ordered to pay £500 costs at Grimsby Magistrates' Court.

Both were banned from keeping or trading in animals for five years.

Jodie Fairbrother, 40, admitted six counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal. She also admitted four breaches of the duty of a person responsible for an animal to ensure its welfare.

She was jailed for 18 weeks, suspended for 12 months.

Paul Fairbrother, 50, admitted one charge of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal. He admitted two breaches of the duty of a person responsible for an animal to ensure its welfare.

He was jailed for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months.

LibbyJo Fairbrother No sentence

The Fairbrothers should have been banned for life from owning or trading animals.

The Fairbrothers should have gone to prison not be given suspended sentences by a Judge who is obviously impervious to the suffering of animals yet cares for the self inflicted hardships the Fairbrothers used as a defence

Jodie Fairbrother her husband Paul Fairbrother who owned the 4 Paws centre along with their daughter Libby Jo Fairbrother were initially charged with a total of 51 counts of cruelty and neglect. By pleading guilty the devious Fairbrothers avoided a two week trial that would have seen a harsher sentence imposed and allowed their daughter to avoid prosecution

In March 2018 the RSPCA in one of its largest raids  involving dozens of inspectors, welfare officers and supported by Humberside Police raided 4 Paws Centre in Killingholme, North Lincolnshire.  More than 150 dogs, cats and other animals that were living in squalid conditions were removed from the centre over serious concerns for their welfare.

The Fairbrothers inflicted pain and suffering on defenceless animals with a lucrative side line of regular runs overland bringing dogs from Romania to sell in the Uk, who to quote the RSPCA prosecutor There were filthy, overcrowded conditions and dogs were suffering from problems such as distemper.

Inside the 4 paws hell hole were areas covered in faeces, other problems included no exercise area and a “pungent” smell of urine and dead animals.Pens included a cat in a pitiful state and a dog that constantly barked. There were also concerns about likely diseases, including some that could be transferred to humans.

The Fairbrothers daughter Libby Jo abused and neglected hedgehogs which she sold on line, National Exotic Hedgehog Rescue took in Libby Jo's victims and supplied evidence of her cruelty to the RSPCA who "lost" the evidence. Libby Jo Fairbrother got off scott free despite 17 charges against her.

The Fairbrothers in an attempt to avoid prosecution set up an expensive lifestyle in North Cyprus however they were forced to leave when they started to "rescue" dogs and their story came to light.

Back in the UK Jodie Fairbrother declared bankruptcy and Having been previously bankrupt in 2005, Fairbrother knew that she was required to declare all assets but she tried to defraud the Official Receiver by failing to declare property she owned.https://www.thebusinessdesk.com/eastmidlands/news/2024637-bankruptcy-extended-for-former-kennels-owner-who-hid-assets

We are not trolls as stated by the Fairbrothers but owners , animal rescuers and people who genuinely care about the plight and suffering of animals. The Fairbrothers are free to walk away and set up another animal business, fronted by their daughter until they can own animals again. This is not right.

Please support our petition to try to overturn this pathetic sentences handed down once again by the uncaring judiciary.
