Bring Back What Kind of Snake is this North Texas Facebook!
Over 100,000 others & I belonged to a Facebook page called, “What kind of snake is this North Texas?” It was created by herpetologists to educate individuals about snakes in North Texas & beyond. The hope was that people would learn about snakes & stop killing them needlessly, just because they’re a snake. The page was an enormous success! The amount of page members just kept growing & became over a 100,000 in a very short amount of time. I was so happy to see an educational page dedicated to helping people understand one of the most misunderstood creatures there is. Snakes unfortunately have a bad reputation & many times they pay for it with their lives. I have seen many people post about how much they have learned from the page & as a result were no longer killing snakes! “What kind of snake is this North Texas?” is such a powerful educational tool that it has already saved the lives countless animals. We also used it as a platform for people that know how to handle snakes to be able to come collect a snake and relocate it properly. This not only benefited the snakes, but people, pets, & livestock as well. Please sign my petition to prompt Facebook to bring our wildlife education page, “What kind of snake is this North Texas?” back! Thank you!
