Why this petition matters

Started by Angeli Ibay

Animals are also humans. They can see, hear, taste, smell and touch. They also have feelings like us. They can be happy, angry or sad. They are not things that can be substituted as an item for making our own needs. It is not good to inflict suffering on any living creature. What if they'll do this to us? What if we switch places? Can we take it?

Animal cruelty is often broken down into two main categories: active and passive, also referred to as commission and omission, respectively. Active cruelty or acts of commission implies malicious intent, where a person has deliberately and intentionally caused harm to an animal, and is sometimes referred to as NAI (Non-Accidental Injury). Passive cruelty or acts of omission typified by cases of neglect, where the crime is a lack of action rather than the action itself — however do not let the terminology fool you. Severe animal neglect can cause incredible pain and suffering to an animal.

We live in a world that not only turns a blind eye to animal cruelty but condones it.The problem is that there aren’t enough people fighting for animal rights. If everyone started to look at animals — and not just dogs and cats — as fellow animals who share our planet, we would see far fewer cases of cruelty toward animals. Animals need our help. The most important thing we can do is spread awareness. As more people become aware of animal cruelty, we’ll have more power to stop it. Don’t just read this. Share it. Contribute your own voice to the cause.
