I am a private pilot, model and vet tech student at Long Beach City College. I recently had the amazing chance to visit sea world for the first time to experience a dolphin encounter. Something I have dreamed of my whole life. I was so excited until I got there and saw the living conditions, how the animals were treated and how much they seemed like they we’re begging for help. I then started doing research about the park and similar places who keep dolphins and whales in captivity for entertainment purposes. I cannot verify these animals are being properly cared for because what I saw was a large swimming pool tank and these poor wild animals being forced to do inhumane tricks for survival to earn “food”. The trainers are required to continue their training 24/7 long past park hours just to keep them in shape for shows. I found this animal abuse and I don’t believe any animal should be deprived of their natural nature of freedom in the wild. There have been multiple reports of trainers seriously injured and killed by encounters during shows. As well many animals died due to the living predicament. This is not okay and it should be illegal to keep dolphins and whales in captivity for entertainment specifically sea world should be used for rescue and rehabilitation only with the purpose of releasing them back into the wild. I was very disappointed on my trip and I now have a new motive and mission to end this inhumane life style for these poor animals that spend their lives in a bath tub begging for food and forced to do labor just to survive. My pleasure of seeing them like this is not more important than the proper deserving life they should have. Please join me to end this cruel way of animal captivity.
