Animal Bridge (Wildlife Crossing) Northwest Florida US Hwy 98
Why this petition matters
Northwest Florida needs animal crossings to protect it's wildlife and property development! There are multiple social media groups in our area showcasing local wildlife running out of safe options to coexist with our constant developments. After viewing a video of a black bear trying to cross US Highway 98 in Santa Rosa county, it seems apparent we can do more for the wildlife that still calls the Emerald Coast their home. Recent government funding has already been allocated for the construction of wildlife crossings, so we need to act fast if we want to be proactive and committed to making this a reality! There are several locations that would benefit from a project like this such as the Naval Live Oaks Nature Preserve/Gulf Islands National Seashore in the Gulf Breeze, FL area or areas between Navarre, FL and Mary Esther/Fort Walton Beach, FL. 24/7 cameras could be installed in the bridge areas to catch a glimpse of the native wildlife as well, which could be used in educational applications.
