Rebecca Clarke started this petition to Andy Street - West Midlands Mayor

I was watching the evening news and saw Andy Street announcing new metro (rapid transit routes) when I noticed one of the routes would be on my road. The current road is not wide enough to accommodate the metro, so I am now concerned about the future of my home.

I am shocked that this could happen without any consultation with communities affected by this proposal. I am horrified that there hasn’t been any engagement with people impacted by this!

On my road there is a primary, a Secondary school and numerous supported living residences for the elderly, has any thought been put into the safety implications of a rapid transit route?

What about the disruption to homes and businesses? Will homes need to be demolished?

Is this the best use of £15 billion of public money (our money) and 20 years of waiting for delivery when we need improvements to the existing public transport infrastructure now!

I support improvements to public transport infrastructure, but I believe that affected communities must have meaningful engagement in the plan making process and that any studies, impact assessments must be made publicly available for all of the proposed new routes as a matter of urgency.

By signing this petition you are asking Andy Street, to tell us your plans and engage with us!

Thank you for your support, and for giving communities the chance to understand how 150 miles of new infrastructure will impact communities, and residents along the new routes!
