Why this petition matters

Started by Charlotte Whitwell

- We believe that the following should be implemented into social media platforms for the safety of users -
- A change in legislation to make YOTI an official attachment to social media for prevent underage users from signing up this should also include verification of parental consent for platforms such as TikTok. This then reduces underage users, grooming of users, fake accounts and trolling. Verified with a blue tick for all accounts after being verified by YOTI. This could then open up links to having DBS accessible for social media platforms to prevent accounts that are predatory or put people at risk.
- After searching for mental health access on social media there is no evidence to suggest that people are doing so. People can search for services if there are willing to, but there is nothing advertised or offered without seeking the help first. We plan to implement a chat box that is available on the users home page across all social media platforms if the user has been flagged by the algorithms.
