STOP THE REZONING NEXT TO HURSTBOURNE PARK!

Tennessee Nursery and Landscape Supply at 4114 Murfreesboro Road is apparently for sale.  The current owner also owns the adjacent properties on either side of the nursery at 4108 and 4118 Murfreesboro Road.  Cameron General Contractors, a Nebraska company that develops independent living complexes for seniors, is seeking to build a retirement community on this land.  Others that will be impacted by this new construction include homes and neighborhoods near Chester Stevens Road and Arno Road.

The property is currently zoned for single family residential and agricultural uses, and thus a rezoning of the property will be necessary to permit the proposed use.  Prior to seeking a rezoning, an amendment to Envision Franklin must be approved since Envision Franklin, the long term master plan for Franklin, designates the property for single family residential development.

We would prefer that this property be rezoned as single family residential if changed at all.  WE DO NOT WANT OUR PROPERTY TO BE DEVALUED by having a huge complex in our backyards.  The current dead end at Terri Park Way and Lanes End could be opened up to unwanted through traffic in and out of this senior living facility.  We will have the noise of sirens at all hours as homeowners near Fountains of Franklin can attest.  Because we are on the back/side of this proposed construction, we might have a view of parking lots, trash dumpsters, utility buildings, etc., not to mention the problems, issues and noise involved with the construction of a multistory complex.  If this senior living facility is approved, further commercial and/or multi-family properties may be approved in the future continuing to encroach on our properties and devalue them.  Let’s fight to shut this down before it’s too late!

PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION, ATTEND THE MEETINGS AND LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!  The City of Franklin has set a neighborhood meeting to take commentary on the rezoning proposal.  The meeting is at 6 PM on Thursday, May 3rd at the City Hall Training Room at 109 3rd Ave. S. in Franklin.
