Cayla DeMayo started this petition to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo

1st the statement on why the bill was passed was "punishing the poor" stated by the democrats.

This bill does not protect the citizens of America but, actually hurts many Americans. This bill was made to protect the poor people as the democrats say but there are ways to protect the poor without putting the citizens of America in danger. Because of this bail reform murders are on the street within minutes of being arrested, rapist are free to wonder about to do as they please. This is a violation of our safety and needs to be addressed. There were many ways around this other then to let criminals go free...

An idea of a different way would be crimes that have not caused any citizen physical, emotional or financial burdens have the right to a low priced bail. The offenses that have caused or potentially cause physical, emotional or financial burdens have a bail based off income with the guidelines similar to foodstamps or child support. If the person is a repeateded offender the bail shall be increased. If the individual does not have an income then base it off the income of those bailing them out...

This reform is causing chaos, violence and a major safety issue to the Americans of New York and violates what the congress, legislature and political parties are supposed to be protecting!!! This reform gives the criminals an out to their crimes instead of a punishment for their actions which will result in those criminals fleeing to never be found or more crimes committed. This reform slaps victims in the face and let's the victims know the state and the people of power DO NOT CARE about your safety or what you go through. This reform has not been thought out fully and due to that innocent civilians will be harmed or worse...
