Tioga Downs Resort & Casino, in the Southern Tier region of New York has been closed since mid-March. We were due to open in Phase 4 of the Governors plan. We have been removed and remain closed. For over a month, Sovereign casinos have been open and operating with no increase of numbers due to the Covid-19 virus. Turning Stone, Yellow Brick Road, Point Place and Seneca Niagara are operational with very little CDC guidelines in place. Tioga Downs is ready and able to implement all CDC and state guidelines.

In the Southern Tier region, Covid-19 numbers, on average, continue to improve. We, in New York State have recently seen our lowest numbers to date. We understand that opening of businesses may cause an incline in numbers, however with the above mentioned casinos there have been no increases. With the opening of our malls, numbers have still continued to decline. Although I recognize the problems that have been encountered with opening of bars, I believe with the proposed plans, the opening of Tioga Downs would not effect the current decline of cases in the Southern Tier region.

Before the unfortunate closing due to the pandemic employed many local residents.  Tioga Downs continues to support Tioga County and surrounding areas. Members of the Tioga Downs family, which include the employees and guests, are feeling the strain and frustration of the pandemic and we are asking for immediate reopening of the casino. The employees need their jobs back. Tioga Downs will be in full compliance to all of the CDC and state regulations.
