Direct Support Professionals are the unseen health care providers. We go to work everyday and support people with intellectual and physical disabilities.

We are taking care of individuals that are used to a daily routine. Such as day programs, grocery shopping, volunteering, attending bowling league, Special Olympics, doctor & counselor appointments & much more! These routines are very important for our clients. They don't understand why we are no longer doing these things. This can lead to verbal &/or physical behaviors,  endangering DSP's & making it extremely hard to do our jobs!

We help with daily living skills.  We are responsible for bathing, toileting, lifting, diapering, laundry, cooking, cleaning and much more! We get sneezed on, coughed on, called names & sometimes hit &/or kicked. We can not practice "social  distancing" as alot of our individuals need hands on help! 

We continue to go to work everyday and support our individuals during this time because we love our jobs & our clients! 

We work for very low wages, but during this CV-19 pandemic we deserve hazard pay. Our clients are home 24/7 which is mentally exhausting.  We are short staffed, covering numerous shifts. We are putting ourselves and our families at risk everyday. 

The individuals we work with are at a higher risk for infection due to medical issues. 

We don't have enough disinfectant, wipes, PPE in alot of our work sights. We deserve hazard pay during this time because we are at higher risk. 

Alot of companies are paying hazard pay to their DSP's during this CV-19 pandemic. We deserve the same respect & compensation!  We take care of some of the most vulnerable citizens!! 

please help dsp’s get hazard pay during this crisis!!!!
