Jennifer Nickels started this petition to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and

We ask you to sign this petition in support of the decision that Tobias R. Nickels be granted Executive Clemency by New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo.

Tobias has served fourteen and a half (14 1/2) years in prison, this is more than half of his minimum prison term.  We believe Tobias should be granted clemency because he has used his time productively and responsibly to rehabilitate himself and pro-actively advance himself in positive ways.  Tobias has completed all therapeutic programs the NYS Department of Corrections offers.  He has participated in voluntary programs like Alternative to Violence Program (AVP) 1 & 2. He has obtained training and certificates for Alcohol Anonymous and or Narcotics Anonymous, church, bible study, and vocational skill.  Tobias has participated in honor block and the family reunion program for over 5 years.

Tobias has been employed as a lawn and grounds foreman, painter, administrative porter, regional medical unit porter and several other positions that require his dependability and hard work.

Tobias makes great use of his time. He has made extensive improvements to himself and his thinking. Simply stated, he is no longer the man he was when he was sentenced to 24 years in prison.  In the 14 1/2 years Tobias has been incarcerated, he has never received a disciplinary ticket for any form of violence.  He has never received a disciplinary ticket for weapons use or weapons possession.  Tobias has learned from his mistakes and deserves a fair and thorough consideration for clemency.

We ask that you please sign this petition in support of the decision to grant Tobias R. Nickels clemency and allow him to be released as soon as possible.  We are asking for a fair and careful review of his entire clemency proposal, case file and institutional record. The idea of Tobias having to serve yet another 9 1/2 years in prison seems like a gross injustice, not only to Tobias and our family, but also to the taxpayers of New York.  He is a former Marine who served our country from 1993-1995. Please allow Tobias an opportunity to put all the great self-work and personal betterment he has done to use, gain his freedom, re-enter society, and become the productive and successful citizen he has prepared himself to be.

 Thank you for your support.
