Why this petition matters

Started by Angry NY

New York has been hit hardest by COVID in the US and millions of New Yorkers have found themselves without work.

While we pay some of the highest taxes in the country, New Yorkers are being left in the cold with no clear leadership out of this mess.

Most of us applying for unemployment did so online. Part of this process requires calling a phone number to complete your claim and get benefits. The phone numbers are overwhelmed and millions of New Yorkers have spent WEEKS trying to claim and get through this archaic system with no results. These New Yorkers are getting NO financial assistance while trying to get through this system that doesn't work.

Roberta Rearden has known about this issue for weeks and aside from hiring more people to work the lines, people are not able to get through while calling HUNDREDS of times.

Rent and bills are due and this has put New Yorkers in a dangerous position. Some are unable to eat, pay bills, pay rent, buy medicine, survive.

Reardon needs to be held accountable for her disastrous leadership, allowing our most vulnerable to use an archaic website and phone system and someone who is actually capable needs to take over immediately before more harm is done.

New Yorkers will not forget the incompetence of those in charge during these terrible times while gouging our taxes during good ones.
