Thanks everyone. As a result of my intervention, the focus is now on employment for despondent and economically vulnerable youth. It just needed someone to state the obvious. Work for the dole is now ten times larger than it was during this incident; ut challeges remain in Victoria under a do-nothing Labor State government. There are few better interventions for disengaged youth than connection to the economy through a job.

As an aboriginal mother of 4 who owns her own buissness and works darn hard at what I do he is an ignorant hate monger who needs to re-think his position...shame shame shame!

Mr Laming's comments were deeply insulting and trivialising. Several people have died as a result of recent clashes in Logan and people are understandably angry, grieving and fearful. Mr Laming may have been paid for whatever he does that he calls work, but it doesn't make him a better citizen - only much better paid.

Racism of any kind is abhorrent and perpetrators must be reminded of the inappropriate nature of their position.

This type of attitude is utterly offensive, and doubly so from someone in a public position responsible for this portfolio. I'm embarrassed to be Australian with my leaders making comments like these.

It's appalling that someone in his position fails to be more constructive with their comments. Did he even grow up in Logan?

It's a pity our gutless Govt. did not do the same.
