Western New York Children's Psychiatric facility is in danger of being closed. WNYCPC is a unique inpatient facility that serves children ( ages 4-18 years of age) with serious mental illness. The facility is operated by the New York Office of Mental Health. WNYCPC treatment philosophy is a family centered approach. Not only the youth benefit from the care; the entire family benefits. The structure and in depth methods have proven to produce amazing results. WNYCPC has saved youth. They have saved families. They have saved lives.

Ann Sullivan, the Office of Mental Health Commissioner, is recommending that WNYCPC be closed. The current ,and future, children requiring this level of treatment would be forced to inpatient facilities also housing adult patients. This would be devastating and disastrous.

I speak as a parent of a child whom very likely would not be alive if it were not for the care and treatment of WNYCPC. Please I , we, beg you not to take this amazing facility from our children. Our children are our future.
