Petition to dissolve the City of Long Beach NY through referendum

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

To:

The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo
Governor of New York State
NYS State Capitol Building
Albany, NY 12224

The government of the City of Long Beach is financially and morally bankrupt.

We the residents and taxpayers of Long Beach feel that the government of the City of Long Beach has failed to represent the interests of the citizens of Long Beach, and that by signing this petition; we would like the opportunity to vote by referendum, to dissolve the city government and replace it with an incorporated village (or villages).

We assert the following:

1.  City council has proven time and time again that they put their own interests ahead of the interests of the residents of the city of Long Beach.

2. The city is facing several judgments and lawsuits that are a direct result of the mismanagement of the zoning board of the City of Long Beach, which may result in the bankruptcy of the city.

3. Cronyism and back room dealing have created government and police department positions which are costing taxpayers millions of dollars annually where these services can be performed more economically, (using economies of scale) by TOH and Nassau County, while essential services such as fire, EMS and lifeguards, city planning, Infrastructure updating, traffic and parking planning, among others remain underfunded or underserved.

We envision he creation of the Villages of Long Beach, with the goal of providing progressive, resident friendly and accountable local government.  We believe that by employing the same town/village methods, which exist all over Nassau and Suffolk counties, we can lower property taxes, improve services, and create a higher quality of life.

Thank You,

The citizens of Long Beach, NY
