We are asking Staunton City Schools to expand options for teachers who do not feel safe returning to in-person learning on August 18. While some teachers are willing to teach in person due to precautionary measures in place, others feel this exposure will put their lives and the lives of loved ones at risk.

The rationale is simple: Covid-19 cases continue to increase. Neighboring districts as well as districts across the nation are wisely moving their in-person start dates back by several weeks. Studies suggest a rise in infections amongst kids and teens.Teachers are Staunton City School's most valuable resource. But if they do not feel safe, they cannot do their jobs effectively.

Please give our teachers the option of teaching 100% online if they feel the need to do so.
