07/07/2020 is winter season where everyone is exposed to flu and flu symptoms. Gauteng is the second province in SA with highest COVID-19 infections and schools are one of the major Hotspots, we sincerely request the government to open the parliament first instead of schools already many schools have been closed down due to increase in infection. Parents refuse Roodebeeck and other schools in Roodepoort and Witpoortjie to be stats. We recommend that schools be opened after winter season, around end of August 2020.

Given the sharp and rapid increase in the Covid19 infections in Gauteng as seen in the recent week, we would like to emphasise that the safety of children, families and staff

We would like to stress that we appreciate the management's plans to prepare for a phased return and  protective measures outlined by the Government for schools. And, we need to take into consideration that we have children with conditions which render them clinically extremely vulnerable and  Children who live with someone with conditions which render them clinically extremely vulnerable.

It is important to stress that we are phased with an extremely difficult decision on whether or not to send our children back to school during the covid 19 peak period and winter season where common flu symptoms are recurring.

Primary aged learners won't understand the 2m social distancing and whilst adhering to the latest guidance and stringent safety practices however, we together with the school management unable to guarantee the complete removal of risk.

We recognise that younger children cannot be expected to remain at a desk for lengthy periods of time and have masks on for lengthy periods.

This is a very difficult decision placed on all of our families and causing additional fear or anxiety. However, we feel that we as parents can assist the school with continuing the schooling at home with assistance of the teachers, whether via zoom, drive thru pick up and drop off (for marking and moderation) or WhatsApp, at least until the peak period has become less tense and they can return at a later stage.
