I know I am not alone when I think about how insurance companies get away with so much and the government just turns a blind eye. Recently Suncorp denied my insurance claim of a water leak and ensuing and extensive damage. It was an internal wall. I didn't know it had been leaking for some time...unfortunately, I do not possess x-ray vision. As a result the leak caused mould, wood rot, floor tile lift etc to my laundry, living area and adjoining kitchen. They said it was my fault for letting it go that long and instantly denied my claim. After some protest an engineer was called...surprisingly, he agreed with them. So much for an impartial process! I had no idea this wouldn't be covered as I had previously claimed a similar event a few years prior. I was told they changed the wording on my policy in 2021...in the middle of a ravaging pandemic when people were concerned about how they were going to pay a mortgage, put food on the table and acquire toilet paper! So surreptitious and calculating. A change of wording to a policy that significant should have been accompanied by a loud hailer, flashing neons, or at the least a text! No, instead, a few generic words vaguely referring to look over the policy...at the very end of some wordy docs that made for riveting reading during a pandemic!  They should be ashamed but they have no conscience, no compunction nor a modicum of compassion. I am but one of many who finds herself in a predicament. I have always paid my premiums which by the way went up with breathtaking rapidity and monumental increase coincidentally aligned with a few major disasters. I am sick of just rolling over  and being used as a cash cow for these avaricious, evil institutions. I have a stuffed up laundry and adjoining issues but people have lost houses and they refuse to pay them. One person was denied a claim for their destroyed house after the storms last year because the stumps weren't straight!!!!  People of Australia, don't you think the time has come to hold these institutions to account? They cannot simply keep taking our money and then formulating slippery excuses to deny claims for which they should be accountable...that's why we pay the ridiculous fees that we pay so we can have peace of mind. However, the peace of mind we thought we had is a mere illusion.  I call for a Royal Commission and a Class Action against these insurance companies the biggest being Suncorp which has a plethora of other insurances in its stable.   If you believe in justice, fair and equitable agreements, values that seemed to have evaporated in our present day society then stand with me and let's demand a Royal Commission!   SIGN THIS PETITION AND LET'S HOLD INSURANCE COMPANIES TO ACCOUNT!  Address the power imbalance!
