Why this petition matters

Started by Jo Morrison

Please sign if you believe the imprisonment of Julian Assange at Belmarsh Prison should end NOW and if you believe a US extradition should be resisted.

Serious human rights violations have taken place within this case and they continue. Julian Assange has been held in arbitrary detention for many years and it has been proven to be torture. If allowed, his extradition to the USA would set a dangerous precedent - if Julian is extradited for publishing truthful information through Wikileaks and made an example of, many other press freedoms/investigative journalists will be targeted too. Where will our accurate information and transparency come from? Truthful information has the potential to stop wars, stop war crimes, stop injustice and stop corruption - these are some of the things we pray for regularly. Wikileaks is a huge library of accurate information that many people (human rights lawyers across the world, historians, journalists for e.g.) have done immeasurable positive things with, for the good of humanity.

If you would like me and others who are happy to come to your place of worship and discuss the situation Julian is in and try to answer any questions you may have, please make contact via email - joannemorrison72@yahoo.com. I'm based in the UK but it might be possible to deliver this elsewhere too - this is an International movement and there maybe supporters in your area that could provide this. I could look into this for you.

What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs. Luke 12:3 (NIV)
