Expand Auto Train Service to a route running between St. Louis and Los Angeles

Amtrak's Auto Train has gotten to be very popular. It runs non-stop between Lorton, VA and Sanford, FL. It is a nice and scenic way to travel along the east coast and for the travelers going from the north east corner of the US to Orlando to visit Walt Disney World. I have a VHS cassette on that route. And it features a short cab ride from the station in Lorton to Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA. There are more people that would love to have that service. However there is one hurdle with the route. If you don't have a car and you are by yourself, you can't ride it. If Amtrak gets rid of the requirement of passengers taking their own cars on the train, then more citizens could have an express trip to Florida and to more places. One route for an Auto Train route would be to go from St. Louis to Los Angeles, CA with a stop in Springfield, MO. It would travel the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Cuba sub from St. Louis's Lindenwood Yard just outside Shrewsbury, MO to Oklahoma City. There is a yard big enough in Springfield, MO. Lindenwood Yard is a monster and does have room for both the coaches and the auto carriers. The route should pull out of St. Louis like about 10 AM and get into Springfield at about 3 PM. Another stop would be in New Mexico on it's way to L.A. There should be plenty of tracks at the L.A. Union Station to house both the passenger cars and the auto carriers.
