Lange Niezel 25 was squatted in December of 2016.
It had been empty for 8 years and recently sold from Ymere to 1012inc, alongside 12 other properties, most of which are monuments.
We have been working non stop to build a home and social space in this beautiful monument.
The building plans of the owner are based on drawings from 2012, when there was a coffeeshop on the ground floor. Now there is a restaurant with different structural needs, such as an exhaust pipe. 1012inc is not aware of the current situation of the building they claim to want to renovate, and we believe that is sloppy management of cultural heritage.
1012inc claims to wanna make the Red Light District more livable and pleasant for locals, and we show that this is possible without spending 200 million euros (Source KvK.) of public money on private high-end rentals.
We are proving with our own story with this house that living isn't and shouldnt be a privilege, and it's possible with minimum budget, with our own hands, to create a friendly environment where lack of money won't stop us from dreaming and achieving what we want.
Help us keep our house and social space! Stop eviction!
