Stop forcing Amsterdam residents to dry their clothes in the bin/refuse area.
Stop forcing Amsterdam residents to dry their clothes in the bin/refuse area.
The residents of Amsterdam estate in Olivedale Johannesburg are being forced to hang their laundry to dry in so called common areas of the estate where the bins/refuse are collected. This area is not cleaned daily, has limited sunshine, has limited drying racks and most importantly is unhygienic as its next to garbage that is in the bins and out of the bins.
Residents are being fined R500 for drying their clothed on drying racks in their balconies.
We have communicated numerous times to the managing agents - Landsdowne who have not provided any assistance but rather continue to support this outrageous enforcement of unhygienic and unsafe activies in an age of Covid-19. It is not the residents fault that the developers did not take into consideration the design and feasibility of placing clothes drying areas with the refuse bins.
