Stop Denver Artist Evictions: Develop a fair, collaborative, and safe inspection process

Denver, Colorado. February 25, 2017.
Nearly three months have passed since the Oakland Ghost Ship tragedy.
In that time, Denver city officials have responded with intrusive, surprise inspections at several cherished DIY art spaces located throughout our city. Officials claim the inspections are only intended to keep the community safe. In reality, the inspections have left dozens of low-income Denver artists homeless in the middle of winter.
Denver has a crisis in affordable housing. Surprise fire and building inspections that result in eviction are not the answer.
The DIY community has helped make Denver the vibrant, cultural hub its citizens have grown to love.
Denver's DIY community deserves better.
Please sign this petition and tell Denver City Officials that you support a collaborative inspection process that provides ample notice, works with residents, encourages landlord and owner cooperation, and includes a sufficient remedy period for everything except emergency circumstances.
