Janine Dwyer started this petition to AMP Capital and

10 mature trees are about to be destroyed on Smidmore St Marrickville at the Marrickville Metro expansion site, starting 18th November. This is in breach of the commitment made by AMP Capital to preserve these mature trees after a huge community backlash during the planning and community consultation phase.

There has been no attempt to protect these trees during construction, and no community consultation on their change of plan.

8 of these trees are large Lemon-scented gums which are a valuable food source for local wildlife. Although they have promised to replace these trees with 20 other trees, it will be decades before they reach the same level of maturity.

This is yet another example of corporations  saying one thing and doing another. It's time they were stood up to and forced to keep their promises to the community that supports their business.

Please sign this petition to hold these people to their promise of preserving the existing trees!
