Petition for the release of Makomborero  Haruziviishe

WE, the Zimbabweans living in the Diaspora.

WE HEREBY petition the government of Zimbabwe to release Makomborero Haruziviishe from prison.

WE NOTE that, Makomborero Haruziviishe is a victim of prevalent, deliberate, systematic, arbitrary use of the law by the government to arrest and prosecute activists.

WE NOTE that, the Government’s heavy handedness has become an indispensable companion of political persecutions and incarcerations in Zimbabwe.

WE NOTE that the government has for a long time used repressive laws to place a sword over the heads of not only civil society actors, but also anyone engaging in public action, including political parties, trade unions, civil society, or the community.

WE DEMAND that Zimbabwe as a member of the United Nations General Assembly to respect its obligations under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other subsequent practice of United Nations Member States. It goes without say that the government of Zimbabwe has flagrantly disregarded both international law and its constitution going unabated in sponsoring and conducting politically motivated arrests and prosecutions.

WE DEMAND that the government of Zimbabwe stops the use of legal and administrative mechanisms for repression.

WE NOTE that the government of Zimbabwe is using the law to stifle the public sphere and ensnare human rights advocates like Makomborero Haruziviishe within a complex web of oppressive laws, hostile to the values of democracy and human rights.

WE NOTE that, the arrest and prosecution of Makomborero Haruziviishe, is a clear act of persecution and must be stopped!

WE DEMAND that ALL systematic politically motivated cases by the government of Zimbabwe against members of the Opposition and Civic Society to be stopped immediately!

WE DEMAND the release Makomborero Haruziviishe and all political prisoners from prison!

We call on all Global Leaders, Organisations and Governments to join us in amplifying the call for the immediate and unconditional release of Makomborero and all political prisoners in Zimbabwe.

How The Petition will be delivered:
Zimbabwean Citizens in the Diaspora stand in solidarity with these selfless human rights defenders targeted by a vindictive state that continuously violates and its citizens human rights.
A healthy democracy needs voices of dissent. These human rights defenders and social activists are necessary to work tirelessly to uphold our shared values of equality, peace and justice.
