KEEP OUR PARKLAND

The Town of Amherstburg has already sold off our parkland we call Centennial Park. In doing so, our youth and user groups will lose their ball diamonds, their public pool, their skate park, volleyball pits, and parkland. There is still a portion of the Park consisting of Russell Renaud Hill which is enjoyed by many youths of the community in the winter months. This hill was also named in honour of a past councilor and community minded gentleman. This portion of parkland somehow mysteriously found itself listed as surplus land, while I believe council instructed administration to put it back into the Parks & Rec Master Plan. So for the sake of our youth and the safety of our youth (forcing many to walk the Simcoe St. Corridor), we are asking the Council to put a motion on the floor to stop the further sale of this remaining parcel now and in the future.
