Our children deserve to have a safe learning environment, and what amherst is doing is the exact opposite. Parents such as myself have repeatedly reached out to Steve sayers and the school principals, via email and phone calls with no success. Steve sayers has offered ZERO help and instead told us we should switch school districts or homeschool. To me, and many other parents that is completely unacceptable. 

Last year the school did a wonderful job at doing their best to keep our children safe. They mandated masks, socially distanced the kids and generally had covid under control. This year however all of that went out the window despite the CDC, health department, and numerous pediatricians BEGGING the schools to mandate masks to protect the youngest children who cannot get vaccinated yet. But the school board refuses to listen to our cries for help. They choose to go against it. We kept our children home for 18 months doing the best we can as parents to protect them only to send them to school to be exposed and get infected. Surrounding school districts have reversed their mask optional recommendations and have mandated masks. What’s it going to take for Amherst to do the same? A child dying? It should NOT come to this. Do your job Amherst and help protect these kids.
