Keep Chris Pittman employed with Talbot County Schools

My favorite teacher from High School is at risk of losing his job because a student made an impulsive decision. During the production of a comedy film project in which toy/prop guns were being used a student, not involved with the project, took a photograph and posted it on social media with an inflammatory comment. This caused the St. Michael's Crisis Team to respond to the school where it was then locked down. Two students were briefly suspended as was Chris Pittman. The prop guns were borrowed from the school theater department, not brought to the school by students or the teacher. The two students were allowed back into school after threatening the safety of the entire school, but the teacher who is also an Eagle Scout, and a patriot, is at risk of losing his job through no fault of his own. Not only is he an amazing teacher, mentor, and confidant, but he is also a friend and a critical part of the SMMHS community. I cant even count how many fundraisers he helped freshman classes with to raise money for the school and school organizations, at no personal gain other than to see his students succeed. Please sign this petition so that I can send it on to our elected members of the Talbot County Board of Education and encourage them to re-examine the facts before taking a drastic, unsupported action that will destroy a teachers career. Chris Pittman should not be held accountable for the impulsive decision of one student.
