On September 4, 2019 Michigan banned the sale of flavored electronic cigarette products. The ban is in response to a deemed “public health crisis” involving Michigan youth by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. By use of the Governor’s executive authority, a 6-month ban will be implemented. The ban will be effective immediately once the legislation is officially filed. Once filed, Michigan businesses will be given 30 days to comply with the new regulations.
Why is it adult vapers who have used electronic cigarettes to quit smoking get punished? Some adults would rather enjoy a taste of fruit opposed to a tobacco flavor. This will increase both the number of tobacco sales and the number of people switching back to analog cigarettes. What about flavored alcohol? Bubble gum vodka surely appeals to kids as much as bubble gum E-juice. While we’re at it, lets ban flavored fountain drinks as well, we all could do with less sugar, right?

This is a nonsensical attempt to control the issue of underage vaping and infringes on our constitutional rights. This act is seemingly an inelegant, flustered attempt to control the issue.

Sign this petition to bring more attention to the issue and gain support for a repeal.
