Require All American University Professors to use Blackboard

Hello AU students and faculty
My name is Ben Zavaleta and I am a student with multiple learning disabilities, including ones regarding time management and organization. Blackboard is of tremendous use to me because it helps me keep track of my assignments and my grades, provides me with the syllabus and other important documents in case I lose them, and keep up with teacher announcements since I forget to check my email regularly and have a messy inbox. So far, I've had professors and TA's who make excellent use of Blackboard and I was able to excel in my classes. This semester, though, I had one professor who doesn't use Blackboard and I'm worried that I will fail the class in part because of it.
Currently, AU doesn't require its professors to use Blackboard because of academic freedom and because it's not considered an assistive technology (technology that helps people with disabilities). But for me, other people with disabilities like mine, and for all of us, Blackboard is an essential assistive technology that, in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be provided to students. If a professor is unwilling to use Blackboard, then they must hire a TA who will. Please sign this petition to show that American University supports its students with disabilities and that everyone needs Blackboard.
