Speech Language Pathologists are being laid off, not paid, and furloughed at an alarming rate due to the COVID-19 crisis, with no clear end in sight. Although, telepractice practice has become an option, many of our clients don't have access to technology and/or insurance is not willing to cover these services at this time, therefore there is a small percentage of clients that can actually participate in telepractice. Many were not prepared and are not able to make ends meet and are uncertain how to keep their private practices alive. All of us in the field hold AT LEAST a Masters degree and many are struggling with student debt on top of everyday expenses. We believe that American Speech-Language and Hearing Association needs to provide support for Speech language pathologists at this time in any way that they can (i.e., refund dues, reimburse certification applications, reimburse CE registry, allow free continuing education courses, help with student debt, provide support to local private practices, etc.)  as this may alleviate a minor amount of stress as the minimum.
