Access to Healthcare in Yemen
Access to Healthcare in Yemen

In countries with limited access to healthcare, the mortality rates are increasing. Infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, are much more detrimental to children suffering from malnutrition and with little to no access to safe drinking water. Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia are most affected by these issues. In Yemen, 19.7 million people lack access to basic health services, a statistic that has fueled the rise of the COVID-19 rate of death in Yemen. This 18.97% death rate (which is the highest death rate globally) is nowhere near where it should be- zero. We urge healthcare officials and lawmakers to take these numbers seriously and bring global attention to the lack of healthcare and its consequences in Yemen.
We are a group of college students at Stony Brook University looking to make a difference within the global healthcare system. With your help, we can push for changes and hopefully these changes will reflect positively within Yemen’s citizens, government, and its healthcare systems.
