Trish Rodriguez started this petition to American Medical Association and

Hospitals around the United States are denying families the opportunity to visit their loved ones who are suffering from COVID-19. Many restrict visitation of immediate family until the patient is deemed “critical” and as such most likely beyond the ability to recognize and receive comfort from their loved ones. Not only is this cruel and inhumane, it is NOT mandated by the CDC.

There is no reason that given proper protocols and a period of self isolation, patients and families should be denied the opportunity to comfort one another and in the worse case, say goodbye. This is not in the interest of the health of the patient or the well being of the family or staff. We demand that these cruel and unnecessary policies stop NOW.
