A friend of a friend on Facebook is in need of a kidney donor, there is a program where if someone is willing to become a donor, they give the patients name and if they aren't a match to that person but they donate to another, that person gets moved to the top of the list, so the donor is essentially helping two people, but here's where the problems exist, the paperwork takes weeks and months to fill out and send back and forth, and if you live in different states the cost of the physical is the donors responsibility, we're talking about someone willing to give a part of themselves to save a life, and a lack of insurance or a few dollars for the cost of a physical, stops everything, the number of people who die each day from organ failure is heartbreaking, this needs to change, there's a simple solution; anyone, anywhere, should be able to go into any hospital, state that they want to be tested to be an organ donor, give name of a person they know or not, with no matter as to where they live, all states should have to be a part of this program, and let the paperwork and testing begin, worry about who's going to pay for this at another time, after all the faster a donor is found and matched, the sooner a life is saved!
