Cover the Unfair/Rigged Election in Pakistan
Dear Western Media,
Where have you been? More importantly...where are you now? The past 72 hours have been one of the most important hours in Pakistan. The week and even month before that, Pakistan saw a wave of such hope and optimism when people of all shapes, sizes, class and banded together to pursue democracy and pray for a just and fair election. Peaceful rallies where thousands thronged around the country marching to the beat of optimism and hope. A future where Pakistan will be viewed as a peaceful and progressive country that denounces corruption. None of that was ever covered by Western Media. On the day of elections, facebook walls swarmed with updates of rigging. People were held hostage in their households unfairly or forced to vote for the wrong candidate. Votes and ballot boxes were destroyed. The citizens of Pakistan marched on peacefully, hoping for a better outcome. The western media was nowhere to be found. We needed you. Today....after the corrupt parties have taken over once again...we have are rallying on the streets for justice and reelection. This is a revolution without bloodshed. Why is there no coverage? No support? Does the Western Media only cover the negative aspect of Pakistan? Is this not important for the world to see as well? A side of Pakistan that the world does not know of....a side of Pakistan that wants the betterment of not just their country but the world.
The brave youth of Pakistan who are rallying the streets are brave. Altaf Hussain have made blatant threats in the media to harm anyone who has not voted for his party. Why is this not being considered terrorism. Or is terrorism only applicable if it happens to non-muslims?
Anyway, youth of Pakistan love the United States and love the media. You have covered Pakistan whenever something negative has happened and that is your job. Now we ask for you to support us in this endeavor. We really don't want to loose hope! We need you! We need unbiased journalism from all over the world.
