The Truth & Reconciliation Conversations (TRC) Global Summit started this petition to support the call to update the American flag to be more inclusive of all Americans, including indigenous peoples and people of color. Our goal is to mobilize citizen engagement in support of TRC's commitment to social reckoning.

American citizens and people impacted by America's actions around the world are invited to sign this petition.

The American flag is a symbol of freedom and liberty to which Americans pledge their allegiance and people around the world respect. But the history of the flag is little known, even by most Americans. Did you know between 1777 and 1960 Congress passed acts that changed the shape, design and arrangement of the flag 27 times? The colors of the American flag represent hardiness and valor, purity and innocence, as well as vigilance, perseverance and justice. These are more than words, they are ideals that we aspire to live up to as engaged citizens of America and the world. You see, the history of the flag has evolved in response to the growth of the country and people it represents. It's time to update the American flag.
