With the merger of American Airlines and US Airways, the Customer Service Agents of Legacy American Airlines Customer Service Agents did not receive the same compensation, promotions and overtime as the legacy US Airways Customer Service Agents after the union agreement was ratified in December 2015. The purpose of a union is to come together to achieve common goals, compensation being a major factor. Up to 200 hours of vacation time was given to the legacy US Airways Customer Service Agents to utilize for 2017 to therefore be on the same page as the Legacy American Airlines agents on vacations, that's approximately a $6000 gift given to them with an agreement between the CWA and American Airlines. When Legacy American Airlines Agents changed work weeks to coincide with the US Airways Agents work week, the Legacy American Agents lost 40-80 hours per employee and were given a loan to make up the amount. With all due respect, the Legacy American Airlines agents were not represented properly by the CWA. After Legacy US Airways agents and Legacy American Airlines Agents became one forming a union in December of 2015, Legacy US Airways agents walked away with a profit sharing check in March of 2016. Where was the representation of the CWA union who promised all union members equal rights, benefits and compensation? In the CWA contract ratified December 2015, Article 1 - Purpose of Agreement, Section A, discusses proper compensation. Unfortunately, what was promised by the CWA, was a falsehood. Unions are bound to represent their union members by law. We the Legacy American Airlines agents feel we were not represented fairly by the CWA and believe appropriate actions are necessary by the CWA and American Airlines to resolve these matters to properly and fairly compensate the Legacy American Airlines agents.
