In a true democracy there should be no discrimination between the social work carried out by government and NGO.   Government gets tax from people and utilise it to carry our social welfare projects. NGO get donations and carry our similar social work.

As per Section 80G most Donations are Eligible for only 50% Deduction Subject to 10% of Adjusted Gross Total Income

under present rules if some one donates more than 10% of income to NGO they will not be eligible for deduction . so they have to still pay additional tax. This discourages people from giving donations to NGO. Leave it to the people to decide if they want to get a social work done by government or NGO.

All donation to NGO having 80G should get 100% dedication and there should be to no qualifying limit.

At present only the below Donations are Eligible for 100% Deduction Without Qualifying Limit, they are mostly by the government , they are National Defence Fund set up by the Central Government, Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund,
National Foundation for Communal Harmony, An approved university/educational institution of National eminence, National Sports Fund, National Cultural Fund,
National Children’s Fund, Chief Minister’s Relief Fund , The Army Central Welfare Fund, Any fund set up by the State Government of Gujarat exclusively for providing relief to the victims of the earthquake in Gujarat, Swachh Bharat Kosh, Clean Ganga Fund, National Fund for Control of Drug Abuse

This discrimination of providing income tax deduction for government trust and other NGO is also against our constitution fundamental duties.

If india has to become  a trillion economy, increase livelihood, improve swachh bharat, clean rivers, reduce un employment, increase the living condition of common people, reduce corruption, help farmers, then government has to take the support of  NGO and civil society organisations in implementation of all projects. This can happen only when NGO get more funds from common people and companies . Amending Section 80G to allow 100% Deduction without any limit will change the county soon.
