Scott Jansons started this petition to Ambience Entertainment and

Based on the children's novel by celebrated South Australian author 'Colin Thiele', this is an emotional father and son story about tuna fishing of Southern Blue Fin tuna in South Australia's Port Lincoln fishing district. Accident-prone son Snook is forever making mistakes much to the chagrin of his father Pascoe. But when tragedy strikes the fishing boat during a deep sea fishing trek in the Southern Ocean, the boy is called on to become a man in a rites of sea passage to reconcile his past mishaps and save both his father and the ship from certain disaster.
The production company who originally proposed a remake of "Blue Fin" had disappointing results from their last venture "Storm Boy", also based on a Colin Thiele novel of the same name. Which one could attribute to Negative publicity of a cast member, an issue still currently before the courts.
The aim of this petition is to show there is wide community support to push on and produce/reproduce a film dear to the hearts of many in the community of South Australia, but as well many in any fishing community Australia and worldwide.
The Novel Blue fin is an inspirational story for young folk that they can perceiver and succeed, even if that means eating Peas and Marmalade for diner :p.
Not only would a remake/sequel benefit the Port Lincoln community by showcasing the region and wares, I personally believe it would benefit the Australian seafood industry in general by helping to connect to the consumers, just where their seafood comes from, and what better place to do that from than the king pin of the Seafood Frontier, home of the biggest fishing fleet in the southern Hemisphere. A remake I'm sure would be great, however a sequel would have limitless potential.
