Stop single crewing police officers

I am a currently serving police officer. The following is not my story, however myself and all of my colleagues can relate to each and every point, as it affects us on an almost daily basis.
We are all exhausted, tired and had enough, We do it for the money and not for the love.
Last week I was hit, spat at and punched. There wasn't one day that I ate my lunch. I held a man's hand who'd just lost his wife, I took a child from his Father who was wielding a knife.I pulled a girl off a bridge who was mentally ill,I locked up a worker who had nicked from the till.
I persuaded a battered woman to finally speak,After seeing her every day, week after week.
The above is our job and all proud to do it.
Time for a few truths:
Grade 1, man with knife - not one cop is free, but I break off as usual.
I get to the job, a lone female I stand, man is angry, wants to fight with a knife in his hand. The same night I attend a fight all alone. I arrive to see 10 fighting in the middle of the road.
Night after night cops go to jobs on their own and yes, they are frightened stood there all alone. Because no one is coming - you're the only free one,
New cops aren't coming, the old ones are gone.
We love the job - but enough is enough. We are ready to go and pack up our stuff, hang up the belt, the hat and vest. No one can say we're not trying our best. We’re abused for pennies that barely pay rent.
We don't want to give up - we still want to be cops! But bad things will happen if they don't pull out all stops.
Get us more cops so we're not always alone, I know others feel the same - I'm not on my own.
Cops will get hurt if this carries on,
And this fight on terrorism will never be won.
Please support us by ending the single crewing of officers to make it look like there are more cops on the frontline. When in reality it’s a safety risk!!

For the past 10 years I’ve been a Police response Officer covering rural areas and cities.
A colleague recently wrote: “Last week I was hit, spat at and punched. There wasn't one day that I ate my lunch. I held a man's hand who'd just lost his wife. I took a child from his Father who was wielding a knife.

We are proud. And that’s why we work our socks off. But I want to change a cuts-driven policy that is putting the public and the police force at risk.
It’s called “single crewing” and it means that officers like me are sent out on jobs alone and face being attacked.
Our team of 24 officers during most shifts will have 3 double crewed cars. The rest of us are sent out alone.
Single crewing needs to stop. That’s why I’m calling on Amber Rudd to stop this.
From the public’s perspective, they see are more cars flying showing a visible police presence which is good. But it’s misleading, because it doesn’t mean that they are safer.
Jobs take twice as long with only one officer dealing. Calling for back-up time is longer, resulting in more assaults on police. More single crewed patrols end up going to the same job which is a waste of public money.
Taser officers single crewed even though protocol says two officers should be present in a situation where a taser may be discharged.
Four hands are ALWAYS better than two. Officers are being run-ragged and as well as risk of violent situations, we risk the chances of a mistake being made. We are only human!
We aren’t asking for a lot, we just want a policy in place that gives us the best chance to do our job, keeping the public and ourselves safe! Constant single crewing does not give us that opportunity.
I am not alone in having concerns with the way the police are being forced to operate. I speak to former colleagues and they are just as exasperated as I am. This is purely down to significant cuts to the police budget and we need the government to understand that it cannot continue.
We are asking for as much support as possible
Please sign this petition calling for an end to single crew policing.
